Today marks the finality of our Build a Tribe Quest. While all Quests are great achievements, this Quest holds special significance because it was the first Quest ever at Acton Buckhead! One month ago we came in our space on in the Library at Oglethorpe University and got busy- literally! We painted the walls, put down some carpet, bought a few tables/chairs and left the kids to it! Yesterday, I attended the exhibition for the Build A Tribe Quest and was extremely impressed with what they accomplished:
- Demonstration of A Hero's Journey
- Contract (and official signing) of rules for their studio
- Demonstration of Core Skills (how they are going to master Math, Ready, Writing)
- Haiku's (with incredible multi-media presentations)
and a music video including the entire studio!
The most impressive part of this was that THEY did all this with without a "teacher". They were facilitated by a "Guide" but never once were they passengers- only drivers! They know that this is their journey and no one, or no structure, will hold them back. They are capable and they are in charge of their journey. With this set up they also faced challenges but they know that the result is up to them. They know that we trust them. They also now have a new understanding of the saying "with great freedom, comes great responsibility." They have accepted this challenge and judging by the excitement and energy each day- they are embracing this! As we head into "Entrepreneurship Quest", I can't wait to see what they do!
